‘Timely Message’

Posted

My letter refers to the Catholic NewYork edition May 19, specifically “Timely Message from New York Bishops” on Page 10. Thank you for the marvelous editorial which addresses every Catholic in the Archdiocese.

I am a member of a wonderful parish dedicated to our Blessed Mother in Wappingers Falls. I wish to thank you on behalf of St. Mary of the Falls. Our parish has been on the front edge of the battle to overturn Roe v. Wade. We have been active in the pro-life movement since 1973, participating every year in the March in Washington, a local Life Chain along Route 9, prayerful presence at our local Planned Parenthood, and many other cooperations with Knights of Columbus and other organizations. Our parish holds baby showers in assistance to mothers who chose to give birth to their “gifts from God.” St. Mary has waited many years to see the Supreme Court of the United States acknowledge and affirm the fact that life begins at conception in the womb and ends at natural death.

Our parish continues to give thanks to Cardinal John O’Connor for his great work with the pro-life movement, especially with his leadership in support of any woman who needed help to bring her child to term. The Cardinal made sure that any such woman would have the resources she needed.
