Father William F. Mullan, M.M., who was a missioner to Guatemala for 39 years, died Aug. 3 in the Maryknoll Assisted Living Unit in Ossining. He was 87.
Father Mullan was in Guatemala, 1998-2012 and 1962-1987, where he was regional superior of Central America, 1980-1986. He also served in New York and Illinois, and was the regional superior of the United States region, 1991-1997.
Born in Jersey City, N.J., he entered Maryknoll in 1949 and professed final vows in 1961. He was ordained to the priesthood in 1962.
He studied for the priesthood at Maryknoll College, Glen Ellyn, Ill., and Maryknoll School of Theology, Ossining.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated Aug. 10 in Queen of Apostles Chapel at Maryknoll Society Center. Father Mullan was cremated and his remains were placed in the Maryknoll Society Columbarium.
