Msgr. Anthony D. Marchitelli, pastor of St. James the Apostle parish in Carmel, died Oct. 28. He was 72.

A Funeral Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m., Friday, Nov. 4, at St. James the Apostle Church, 14 Gleneida Ave., Carmel. Cardinal Dolan will serve as principal celebrant and Father Anthony D. Sorgie, pastor of Immaculate Conception and Assumption of Our Lady, Tuckahoe, will deliver the homily.

Msgr. Marchitelli was appointed pastor of St. James the Apostle in 2015 and reappointed last year. He served as administrator and later pastor of Our Lady of the Assumption in the Bronx, 2011-2015. He earlier was president of Archbishop Stepinac High School, White Plains; principal of Kennedy Catholic High School, Somers; and faculty member of St. Joseph by-the-Sea High School, Staten Island.

He has also served as archdiocesan Scouting chaplain; and he was a parochial vicar of St. Augustine’s, Highland.

Msgr. Marchitelli was ordained in 1976 and named a monsignor in 1999.

On Thursday, Nov. 3, the evening before the Funeral Mass, there will be a 6:30 p.m. reception of the body and wake at St. James the Apostle, followed by a 7 p.m. parish Requiem Mass.

Auxiliary Bishop Gerardo J. Colacicco will be the principal celebrant of the Requiem Mass and Father Peter McGeory, pastor of St. Joseph parish, Bronxville, will be the homilist. Burial will be at St. Sebastian Columbarium, Lake Carmel.
