Sister Muriel Theresa Long, S.C., who served at the South Bronx Pastoral Center for 10 years, died Dec. 2 at St. John Riverside Hospital in Yonkers. She was 92.

Sister Muriel was at the South Bronx Pastoral Center as program director, 1982-1989, and staff member, 1979-1982. She was director and teacher at St. Mary, Yonkers Pastoral Association, 1989-1998; pastoral associate of Our Lady of Victory, the Bronx, 1975-1978; director of religious education at St. Peter, Haverstraw, 1972-1975; and principal of St. Emeric School, Manhattan, 1966-1971. She taught at Blessed Sacrament, Manhattan, 1964-1965; All Saints, Manhattan, 1959-1961; and St. Paul, Manhattan, 1950-1959. She also served in Brooklyn.

Born in Manhattan, she entered the Sisters of Charity of New York in 1947 and professed final vows in 1953. She was a graduate of Cathedral High School, Manhattan, and earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from the College of Mount St. Vincent, the Bronx, and a master’s in mathematics from St. John’s University, Queens.

A Funeral Mass was celebrated Dec. 4 at St. Margaret of Cortona Church, the Bronx. Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery, Yonkers.
